Workflow or agent? How to choose
Agents are exciting, but most business automations work better as plain workflows. A simple test tells you which one you need.

Automation tools have a steep learning curve not because they are complex, but because most tutorials stop at the trigger-and-action level and never explain how to handle the cases that break your workflows: empty payloads, API rate limits, deduplication, retries. This course starts where those tutorials leave off and builds workflows that hold up in production.
The course follows three real workflows across eleven modules: a lead enrichment pipeline that pulls data from five sources, deduplicates it and posts to a CRM; a content repurposing bot that takes a long video, transcribes it with AI, generates social posts and schedules them; and a client reporting system that pulls metrics from ad platforms, formats them into a branded PDF and emails them on a weekly schedule. All three are built in n8n, with equivalents shown in Make where the difference matters. The AI modules go from single model calls — reliable prompts, structured JSON, token costs — to agents: a model that picks its own tools, reads your docs through an MCP server and asks a human before it does anything it can't undo.
Automation is the wrong answer for some problems, and the course says so. Real-time customer-facing features, workflows that process more than a few thousand items per day and anything touching payment data need different tools. The last module covers when to move from a no-code workflow to a simple script, and how to write that script with AI help.
